Three temperature scales
On the Celsius scale water freezes at 0 °C and boils at 100 °C at standard atmospheric pressure. The Fahrenheit scale is used mainly in the United States, and Kelvin is the absolute scale of science, starting at absolute zero (−273.15 °C).
Formulas
°F = °C × 9/5 + 32, °C = (°F − 32) × 5/9, K = °C + 273.15. Reference points: 0 °C = 32 °F, 20 °C = 68 °F, 37 °C = 98.6 °F, 100 °C = 212 °F. Celsius and Fahrenheit give the same number at −40 degrees.
Conversion factors
